AI and educational technology

Claude Skill: SDCOE AI Compliance Check

A per-artifact vetting instrument running one AI tool through five gates: student data privacy (11 sub-gates), accessibility (7), bias and consequential decisions (9), governance and procurement (9), and currency. Twelve-item intake, five verdict values, a division routing table, a do-not-cite table, an eight-item watch list, and two outputs per run: a formal decision record for the file and a plain-language district summary. Scoped to county authority, so a failing verdict is a finding offered as service rather than a directive.

Claude Skill: Backward Design Module Builder

Turns a topic, outline, script or source document into a complete teaching module built backward from one measurable outcome. Enforces four rules: one outcome per module, mastery meaning explain and defend and teach rather than recognize, feedback before accountability, and scaffolding introduced early and removed on purpose. The build sequence writes the exit check second, before anything else is designed, which is the move most module design gets wrong.

Claude Skill: Transcript to Playbook

Turns a raw call recording, meeting transcript, thread or discussion into a reusable playbook someone who was not in the room can run. Sorts every piece of source material into play, case, or noise using a substitution test, then requires a stated trigger condition, imperative steps, documented failure modes, and a traceable pointer back to the source for every non-obvious claim.

Published

Claude Skill: Session Memory

Reviews a work session and persists what is durable: decisions with their one-line reasoning, unresolved action items, facts and preferences about the user, and key deliverables. Written to be selective, on the argument that a memory file capturing everything is as useless as one capturing nothing.

Published

Automated document quality gate

Twenty-six automated checks run against a document before it ships.

Built

AI adaptive practice inquiry cycle

Mentor-verified cycle inside the SDCOE induction program testing whether weekly practice on an AI-powered adaptive platform produced transfer rather than item memorization. Evidence standard set before the intervention began; only 5 of 30 assessment items overlapped the practice bank. Accuracy rose 70% to 75% across 18 students on two unit assessments.

Complete

Classroom AI-use policy

Named, permissive and accountable: students may use generative tools to draft or refine work and remain responsible for reviewing, editing and approving what they submit. Paired with a parent-facing document disclosing my own AI use.

Three-Distance Contextualization Ladder

Solves the most-missed point on the AP History rubrics. Three numbered fields at three stated distances, each requiring a dated event: one within a century, one nearer, one inside the time frame. Checkable in ten seconds.

Original

LEQ Planning Scaffold

One page, five scored rows, seven points, point value printed on each row, completed before drafting so planning is gradeable on its own. Rubric language reproduced in full so scaffold and scoring guide cannot drift.

Mine, on College Board rubric language

P.I.E.C.E.S.

Six student-facing lenses mapped one-to-one onto the six College Board themes, each carrying its analysis skill and a bank of guiding questions. Carried as Course Objective #1 on the syllabus.

Mine; themes are College Board's

ACE, Adapted

Answer, cite something specific, explain why it matters. The spine was adopted; the two qualifiers are mine and each fixes a named failure the standard wording produces. Carried across all three AP History courses.

Adaptation

AP Stimulus MCQ Strategy

A six-move student summary over an eight-step teacher-facing method. Diagnosis: students miss items by answering the wrong kind of question, so the skill gets labeled before the stimulus is read.

Original

DBQ Step by Step

Seven timed steps, the Although-x-a-b-therefore-y thesis formula, HIPP sourcing, and an explicit note that the formula is modified from what the class used earlier in the year.

Original, bylined

Test Corrections protocol

One point recovered per item, three to four sentences of original explanation required, and an explicit rule naming the practice platform and forbidding students from copying its explanations.

Fox SMART Goal Template

Named goal-setting template used across courses.

Software and game development

FoxStead Dashboard

A complete life organizer built as a video game. Each area of life is handled by its own trained bot, and every bot has a personality, a look and an office I design. They report to a chief of staff, who reports to me. The game layer is the interface, not decoration: the point is that running your own life should be legible and worth returning to.

In development

Game-based LMS

The same architecture built for students and schools. Trained agents hold areas of a learner's work, report up through a central figure, and turn the management layer of school into something a student actually wants to open.
